In mid-December we ordered 2 goose legs, unfortunately our first order was a failure. The goose legs were very good, red cabbage and sauce were ok, but the napkin dumplings looked more like a concrete slice, at a price of € 29.50. It's a shame our first attempt went so wrong. After consultation, the restaurateur did not understand our complaint. This means that the restaurant is already closed for us before the right opening.
Even as "Roberts Bistrot" it is the best shop in Düsseldorf. After the reopening, nothing has been lost, on the contrary! Great food, great service, French bistro atmosphere and the best gratinated raspberries I have ever tasted. Just great. Nice to have you back!
After having been enthusiastic guests at Robert's Bistro for around 20 years, we have now been able to enjoy the new harbor master's office three times. The charming ambience has been completely preserved, as has most of the team around Paul Meister. The menu has been refreshed and reduced a bit, which of course is also due to these crazy times, especially for gastronomy. But the most important thing: Everything is fresh, delicious as usual and the wine selection is good and well priced. The service tries hard across the board! So we will also remain loyal to the harbor master's office!
We already know that Paul Meister is an outstanding chef from his former Roberts Bistro. Now that the old harbor master's office had to close again shortly after opening due to corona, the chef has come up with the goose leg construction kit. I had the pleasure of trying it out and I'm thrilled. The delicious and sophisticated food was effortless and easy to prepare thanks to the instructions. The meat was tender, the skin crispy, the sauce and chestnuts were especially delicious and refined, and the marzipan apple was a particularly fine extra. The portion was also more than generous. I would have stood in the kitchen for at least five to six hours for a meal like this and I wouldn't have managed it half as well! I can only recommend this to anyone who loves food like this!
Reservations are not possible; does not work in times of Corona. In response to written inquiries, it is stated that “something will be done”. Arrived on time, at 6:30 p.m. you find that about 10 people are already waiting in front of the bar (safety distance?). Anything but happy. The former restaurant lived from its abundance of guests, you were still “squeezed in between” somewhere. Now that this is no longer possible at the moment, one should think that a restaurateur would also think about the access options for his restaurant, not take over old creatures without reflection and, above all, not lure potential guests into the port with empty promises. Not possible, let's see if the new lockdown will be survived at all.
The successor to Roberts bistro is just as wonderful and fortunately has not lost any of the ambience that we greatly appreciate! The food and the wines were wonderful and very fresh and tasty. We love the shop and definitely remain loyal guests. A presto;)
The former Roberts Bistro with a new menu and a smaller team continues to cook top-quality bistro cuisine at star level. Plus high quality seafood. Outstanding!
